Former Masterchef contestant Kaila Klassen has now officially replied to accusations made about her in August.
At that time, her former business partner and head chef at Krafty Kitchen Chris Shaften filed the claim after their business relationship soured and Klassen was removed from the company.
The claim by Krafty Kitchen accuses Klassen of taking money from the company for personal use in the amount of $29,542.88.
Klassen has now filed a reply to the claim in which she denies the allegations and insists the money was used for the company and approved by Shaften.
“Ms. Klassen therefore states any funds or expenses expended were for legitimate purposes and were duly approved by Mr. Shaften and Ms. Klassen in their capacity as the sole Directors and Shareholders of Krafty Ltd,” the document states.
The legal filing also claims that the accusations filed by Krafty against Klassen were without merit and “filed primarily to draw attention to Krafty Ltd's official business opening.”
The document goes on to accuse Shaften of making defamatory remarks about Klassen in the original Castanet article and that they will be pursuing a defamation case against Shaften in BC Supreme Court.
Klassen's lawyer, Wesley Forgione, could not comment on the defamation suit or give details on when the suit would be filed or for how much.
Klassen chose not to comment further on the matter.
