New Tim's donut revealed

The Burger King buyout was not the only big news coming out of the Timmies oven this past week.

On Thursday the Canadian coffee giant crowned Jennifer Brown of Glencoe, Ont. as this year's Duelling Donuts Contest winner.

Brown's peanut butter and chocolate entry, the 'Love Reese's to Pieces' doughnut, is filled with crème brûlée, covered in chocolate fondant and topped with peanuts and Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Cups.

76,500 doughnut entries were reduced to eight finalists and a judging panel of Canadian doughnut lovers including actor Jason Priestley, musician Jann Arden, chef Anna Olson and TV host Ben Mulroney announced Brown the winner of a $10,000 prize, and bragging rights.

"A peanut doughnut is an untapped resource – something that's hard to find, but that we all want," she said in a statement. Brown says she came up with the idea late at night when she couldn't sleep and wanted to pass the time.

Last year's winner was The Tortoise Torte — a chocolate, caramel and pecan-topped doughnut.
