Tow truck used in boat heist

An elaborate movie style theft took place in West Kelowna early Thursday morning.

According to officials with National Storage, what appears to be a lone male drove to the corner of its storage lot on Stevens Road about 2:40 a.m., cut a hole in the fence and drove away with a 1999 Chaparral 2355 Sport boat.

He was driving a small, all-white tow truck.

A company spokesperson says the thief had a paintball gun and used it to try and disable the security camera.

He was unsuccessful.

RCMP have possession of the surveillance video.

The boat belongs to Ian Iozzo who purchased the boat back in January.

With the trailer and stereo, he says it's worth about $25,000.

"It's insured but I just want the boat back," says Iozzo.
