3 family members killed in crash

The three people who died last week in a horrific car accident near Kelowna have been identified by the BC Coroners Service.

Harold Reinhardt Miller, 82, was behind the wheel with his 79-year-old wife Violet Juline Miller in the back seat. The couple’s great grandson, 14-year-old Thomas Thys Edward Davies from Victoria, was seated in the front passenger seat.

The Miller’s red Chevy Malibu was travelling northbound when police, citing witness accounts, say it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another car. It then collided head-on with a large commercial truck.

All three occupants of the Malibu were deceased at the scene, and drivers of the other vehicles were injured but survived.

The crash happened July 15 around 4:40 p.m. on Highway 97, adjacent to Duck Lake.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate these deaths.
