A 41-year-old Kelowna man could face possible charges after two children were left inside a pickup truck in the sweltering heat Friday afternoon.
 
On July 11 at 3:25 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of children being left in a hot vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart located at 1555 Banks Road. Police found a 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy inside a Ford pickup truck in 33 degree Celsius weather. Both boys were removed from the truck and immediately assessed by paramedics.

The driver showed up shortly thereafter with an 11-year-old girl and was subsequently arrested for leaving the two boys inside the vehicle. The youngest boy was returned to his mother who attended the scene. Ministry of Children and Families personnel attended to assist in the return of the older two children to their mother.
 
Police believe the two boys had been in the truck for nearly 30 minutes and that their continued health was in jeopardy.
 
The 41-year-old Kelowna man faces potential charges of Fail to Provide Necessities of Life. He was released on a Promise to Appear for Court on September 25, 2014.
 
People need to realize that it is never okay to leave a child or pet in a vehicle, no matter how brief. The temperature in a parked car, even in the shade with the windows partly open, can rapidly reach a level that will seriously harm or even kill your pet or child.
