Ex-Kingpin member nabbed

A former member of the now disbanded Kingpin Crew and his common law girlfriend will be in a Kelowna courtroom Monday on various drugs and weapons charges.

Quentin James, 37 and Anita Moessner, 31, were initially arrested back in December of last year after James allegedly attempted to mail a package containing three ounces of cocaine to an address in Alberta.

Police then raided James' home, two storage lockers and two safety deposit boxes.

They seized various amounts of drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, methamphetamine, ecstasy and psilocybin along with a bulletproof vest, brass knuckles, defensive batons, assorted rounds of ammunition and approximately $100,000 in cash.

According to RCMP Sgt. Laurie White, members of the Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit began investigating James in Feb 2013, focusing on drug trafficking activities of the Kingpin Crew throughout the Southeast District and the Lower Mainland.

"Any disruption of activities associated to organized crime has a positive impact in our communities," says Sgt. Laurie White, spokesperson for RCMP "E" Division FSOC.

"We encourage the general public to assist in keeping our communities safe by reporting any illicit activity."

The pair were arrested by members of FSOC and the Kelowna RCMP.

James has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Moessner has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
