The SS Sicamous is celebrating an important landmark as she turns 100-years-old this May.

As part of the celebrations, the Penticton Museum and Archives is creating a special collection donated to the vessel as part of the ongoing Local Lore Project.

They are seeking residents of the Okanagan Valley who rode the SS Sicamous during her time as a transport vessel, contributed to her restoration, or worked as part of her crew, who would be willing to share their stories and experiences.

"The essence of the project is to collect information from the public, who have a vast wealth of knowledge, before it is forgotten or lost," said Manda Maggs, with the museum. "The stories collected are not trivial, they are not invaluable. They are the link to the past that we need in order to give our future generations context about the journey we've taken together as a community."

The stories will be kept on record at the museum, where they will be preserved for generations to come, accessible to the public and safe from being lost to the passage of time.
