Slick roads cause crash on Dilworth

The morning snowfall, while pretty to look at, has made driving treacherous in the Central Okanagan. It is being blamed for at least one accident in Kelowna after a car slid off the road on Dilworth Drive.

The young female driver and her male passenger lost control and crashed into the park access road just below Summit Drive.

“They spun sideways and went off the road into the park access shoulder. They took out a tree and a fire hydrant,” says Kelowna RCMP Cst. Steve Holmes.

“Luckily the auto shutoff worked on the hydrant and we didn’t have to deal with ice as a result.”

He says neither person was injured in the crash, but the car sustained extensive damage to the driver side of the vehicle.

Holmes would like encourage all drivers to slow down today because the roads are very slick.
