A product that doesn't suck

Jennifer Zielinski

It is a product that doesn't suck.

In fact 'suck', is the last thing Drink E-Z does. The battery powered cup forces liquid up through a straw and into the users mouth, all at the touch of a button.

Kelowna inventor, Damjan Madjar, dreamed up the idea over two years ago and has been working with several prototypes of the product, which he says will revolutionize the way we drink.

The concept came to him after watching a friend of his suffer following a surgery that had his jaw wired shut.

"He wasn't able to drink from a cup, he couldn't feed himself so he was just using a syringe at the side of his mouth, so that is when I thought there is an actual application for this."

Now he believes his product will transform the medical and dental fields.

"It is honestly a limitless market out there, from retirees who sometimes have trouble getting liquids, down to post surgery, and post operative (sic) in the dental field, when you get your wisdom teeth pulled out you develop dry socket."

Madjar is targeting everyone he can with Drink E-Z including hungover party goers to women who are concerned with premature wrinkles, caused by sucking on straws.

He has even gained support from a local dentist Dr. Brent Corlazzoli, who says he believes Drink E-Z would benefit anyone of his clients following a dental surgery.

"There is always concern with having negative pressure in the mouth by patients sucking through a straw and Drink E-Z would eliminate that but they could still drink fluids without causing an post-op infections," Corlazzoli says in a YouTube testimonial for the product.

However, as it is with any starter project Madjar needs funds to get Drink E-Z into the mainstream market.

"I am trying to raise funds for capital, for injection moulds, to get manufacturing started over in China, also it would give me a marketing budget, but it is also pretty much testing the market as well," Madjar explains.

Until March 14, 2014 Madjar is asking friends and supporters of Drink E-Z to go online to 'indiegogo' and contribute to his product as well as pre-order the cup, which will sell for $25.

He is also looking for an investor who can help market as well as fund the product.

The Kelowna resident, originally from Slovenia believes Drink E-Z will deliver a fun and easy drinking experience plus he says it will make for the most fascinating cup anyone will ever own.

Once up and selling Madjar hopes to donate some of his profits to a charity as a way to give back to those who helped him make Drink E-Z a success.
