Say "Hello" to Mooncake!

Moonie is not quite ready to be adopted, and we are currently searching for someone who is willing to go through a Foster to Adopt trial, as her situation and behavioral issues are so complex.

While Ms. Moon's story didn't have the happiest of starts, we are looking to find her happily ever after. Mooncake came to us from a large group of dogs who were all extremely under socialized and lacking many of the life skills a dog of her age should have. She has come a long way in the short while she has been with us, and she will certainly continue to blossom with patience, love, and gentle training. Once she has had some time to adjust to a new environment and feels safe, Moonie opens up, and shows her easy going and happy personality.

Mooncake is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home - being as under socialized as she is, she will require a lot of patience, training, and an understanding of dog body language and cues. She is not suited for a loud or busy home, a home with small children, puppies, or other animals. She has plenty of experience living with other dogs so a calm, confident K9 companion may help her settle into a home. Butterscotch has been through a lot in her five years, so what she needs most in life is a stable and calm home.

Due to her history, she shows a lot of anxiety and fearfulness and can be easily spooked. It is extremely important that any potential adopter understands this kind of behavioral challenge and is prepared and informed.
A home with no young children or high energy dogs is ideal for this sweet girl. She doesn't have a lot of experience with other dogs, and we don't know how she feels about making friends with cats. She has been working on house training and has shown a lot of improvement! If you think Mooncake could be a good fit for you please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.

Dolly recently came in with her mom, Jolene. Understandably, she is feeling pretty scared about all of life's changes right now. We'd like to see her go to a quieter calm home where she can really relax and get used to a routine. If you're looking for two kitties, we're sure she'd be happy to be rehomed with Jolene, but since she has always lived with cats a home with a resident cat may suit her as well.

If you're interested in adopting this gentle sweetie, please fill out an online application below:

Good day, my name is Nougat!

Meet Spot! This spirited and playful 1-year-old feline is looking for her forever home where she can channel her boundless energy and charming quirks into endless fun and companionship. Spot's personality is as unique as her name, and she comes with a zest for life that is sure to brighten up any household.

Spot has had the experience of living with other cats and generally gets along well with them, but she does have a tendency to assert her dominance, which can come off as a bit bossy. Because of her vivacious and somewhat overbearing play style, she would be most successful in a home where she can be the star of the show. However, she could also thrive with a particularly tolerant feline companion who understands her playful antics or perhaps someone as equally spirited as herself.

Alternatively, adopting Spot along with her sister, Hamsturr, could be the perfect solution. These two know each other well, and Hamsturr might just have the right personality mix to balance Spot's high-energy frolics. Together, they can provide double the fun and love.

Play is the way to Spot's heart, as she loves toys that challenge her physically and mentally. She would do well in an environment where her new family can engage with her through interactive play and provide her with plenty of enrichment activities to keep her busy mind satisfied.

If you're looking for a cat who will keep you on your toes, entertain you with her antics, and love you fiercely, then Spot might just be your perfect match. Come meet her and see if you're ready to add a little spunk to your life with Spot, or maybe even Spot and Hamsturr together!

Meet Tac

Tac arrived at BC SPCA Kelowna with his housemates, all undergoing intense rehabilitation. Sadly, their past didn't allow for positive growth, impacting Tac's personality development. Though he's shown improvement at the SPCA, it might not be immediately noticeable. Nevertheless, it's a step forward that Tac is eating, drinking, and using the bathroom normally.

Yet, Tac remains very fearful, in need of an owner who can provide unconditional love and patience. His past has left him timid and uncertain, requiring gentle guidance to overcome his fears. With time and understanding, Tac holds the potential to transform into a cherished companion. Tac would benefit to have another dog in the house to learn from.

Meet Irwin, a delightful lil bundle of fur, with a heart as big as those adorable puppy eyes. Irwin is a Shepherd cross. At just 10 weeks old, this lovable lil man is ready to embark on a lifetime of adventures with a caring and committed family. Irwin's heart is brimming with love, and all he needs now is a furever home to share it with. If you're ready for the pitter-patter of widdle paws, the sound of joyful barks, and the unconditional love only a puppy can provide, consider making Irwin a part of your family.

Adopters should be prepared for all the fun, mess, and chaos that comes with adopting a puppy. We highly recommend puppy training classes with an AnimalKind certified trainer to all puppy adopters. Proper socialization at this young age is super important. We don't know how Irwin will feel about sharing his home with another dog, cat, small animal, or small child, but with slow introductions we think he will be happy to have someone else to love. He certainly loves playing and wrestling with his sibling!

Adopting a puppy is a big commitment and potential adopters are urged to consider the long term needs of a furry friend, not just the immediate fun.

An adoption counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.

Do you think you could be Irwin's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1. Visit our centre to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or
2. Submit an online application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit!

BLAKY 5 year old female cat. Contact Sarah in Kelowna 250-317-3398. Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Vet cost recovery $125. Blaky is a sweet girl, she was abandoned at the side of the road with a ‘free’ sign on her carrier. She was infixed and quite weak when she first got to her foster’s place but is all better now. She is slow to warm up, and enjoys a quiet space without loud or sudden noises. She needs some patience to get to know you and may hiss at you if you pat her in the wrong spot. However she’s improving all the time and becoming more and more comfortable with patting as she gains trust. She loves to nose her way under the covers and have a long day sleep. She appreciates having a loving home and attention, but she’s probably best in a home without children or other pets.
