5Mths 2Wks (approx) - 5Mths 2Wks (approx)
Colour: Black / None

These two are a bonded pair. They MUST go home together. They cuddle and like each other a lot. Bonded bunnies tend to need not as much attention from their humans, so it will take more time to earn their trust. Dakota is a little friendlier than Hawaii. Sit in the x-pen with them, maybe with a little romaine lettuce for a treat. They are learning that "good things come from humans."To tell them apart: Hawaii is a little bigger. Her coat, especially the underside, is more of a gray color. At this time, Hawaii has a bald patch on her right shoulder. This was checked at Rutland and is ok.They have recovered well from their spay surgeries. Before that, Hawaii was quite aggressive in terms of dominate behavior) towards Dakota. But, she has settled down and we don't see that level now. However, Hawaii will still be the dominant rabbit. Both are prolific chewers. They love wooden chew toys, sissel rope, and gnawing on their A-Frame. They will chew baseboards if given the opportunity. They love chew mats and the "A-Frame" hiding place that is chewable. When first bringing them home (or at the shelter to start off), we recommend a smaller x-pen, so they can find their litterboxes. Rabbits are territorial and, if the space is at first too large, they will urinate in many places to mark their territory. Expand the space to about six by eight feet when they have the idea. Of course, free running time is needed outside this enclosure.Diet: Unlimited Timothy Hay, about 1/8 cup pellets morning and evening, per rabbit in separate dishes, so they don't steal the others food. They have transitioned well from the alfalfa based pellets to the timothy based pellets. Little piece of romaine lettuce are good treats with which to start. Please don't give fruits. They are not needed, can result in "poopy bum," and the romaine is just as attractive a treat.A lot of enjoyment with this bonded pair is to be had by simply watching them explore and interact. With time, the humans can be part of their lives. But, be aware, it will take effort, tact and patience.
